So yesterday I flew back home from the most amazing few days away celebrating my 21st in Amsterdam. Over the past few years birthdays have become just another day, and another year older. However this year it was all about celebrating in style with my friend/birthday buddy Ryan (give him a follow on insta) in dam. We booked our trip via Expedia.co.uk over all it came to around £200 each for our hotel and flight. Which was for 3 nights and 4 days. We actually did really well with out deal as our hotel was stunning, if anything maybe two posh for us two. The hotel was The Park Hotel. The outside, to the inside lobby right through to our room managed to capture our attention. I could not of faulted the room or the service from our hotel, however they did wake us up when they booked our taxi for the wrong day. But that was okay because the bed was holy mother of god better than a premier inn bed.

On our first day we didn't think we'd get much done as we arrived around 11am. However we couldn't check in until 3pm. So we decided to get right into it. Sadly on our first day it was raining so it made it a little dull. However we went for a wonder; found a cute restaurant for a hot chocolate, then we made our way to a few museums before checking in. We had a bit of chill time at the hotel, before heading out for a meal at the Hard Rock Cafe which was literally right in front of our hotel. We of course took advantage of happy hour too! (can you say c-o-c-k-tailsss.) After our meal we were still eager to see more of Dam, so of course it was off to the Red Light district. I'd of course heard a lot about it, and how different it is over there, so of course we had to see it for ourselves. Once we arrived the street looked normal, until the windows caught our eyes. The Red Light district really is a different world, men going up to windows and paying for sex. While here in the UK that would be a big deal. But of course the street was a laugh the range of sex shops, and museums it was over all a good laugh. The next day it was off to the Anne Frank Museum! I have been dying to go to the museum for ages. Being one of the most popular museums in Amsterdam is was a must! I love the history of Germany and Hitler it really interests me and Anne Frank's story is a great side of the history. I'd highly recommend the museum. However get there early!
We did a range of other bits on our list, but I'm going to be doing a separate post on all the stuff I recommend you do while in Amsterdam! I can't wait to go back in warmer weather to discover more.
